McLoughlin Scar Tissue Release® for Dogs
What is MSTR® for Dogs?
The McLoughlin Scar Tissue Release® for dogs (MSTR®) is a hands-on, effective and gentle technique that can help to address the pain, restrictions and appearance of scar tissue.
A scar is a traumatic occurrence to the body, regardless of whether through injury or surgery (planned or otherwise). Scar tissue can also form from muscle tears, overuse, even ill fitting collars or harnesses.
Your dog is ALWAYS given the choice if THEY wish to receive MSTR®. They will always be given the choice and freedom to walk away. I will NEVER force the technique onto a dog.
What happens in an MSTR® session
First, we will discuss the consultation forms, these will have been emailed or posted to you in advance of the appointment.
We will talk about your dog, their history, any medical conditions, loves, and hates, as well as about your household and lifestyle, and all the information I require to help build the best picture of your dog. This will help me understand their needs.
It is very important that your dog feels comfortable with me and some dogs will benefit from time to accept and trust me, so for some dogs, this does mean that the first session may just be about us getting to know each other and very little MSTR®, or even none, may be offered.
However, please be assured that this patience is rewarded once the dog trusts me.
Generally, hands-on time will last no more than around 10 minutes, it may be much shorter if your dog decides that they have received enough (there is no correlation to the amount of work received to the benefits that potentially may happen!)
During the session, you may observe a few short breaks, these will often be determined by your dog. Your dog will sometimes walk away or lie down for a brief period whilst their body ‘processes’ the work and may then come back to me asking for more.
Once the session is over you will receive some aftercare advice and know that if you have any questions, you only need to contact me!
(PLEASE NOTE: a MSTR® appointment can only be booked AFTER I have received the completed Veterinary Confirmation Form.)

The Results...
The wound healed quickly and looked good, our vet was pleased with her. But she seemed a different dog afterwards - quieter, less keen to play and run with our other two dogs.
She still walked with us and the other two but plodded around with no real joy. She had aged almost overnight, and we regretted going ahead with the operation.
We gave her time, we changed her food, but no improvement. Then I spoke with Jules, who felt Henna would benefit from canine MSTR. My lovely girl had two treatments, each gentle treatment.
Jules carried out respecting what Henna was willing to accept. After the first treatment, the change was amazing, Henna had more energy and enthusiasm, wanted to walk, play and generally take part in everything.
The second treatment cemented that improvement. Henna was back. So many thanks to Jules for bringing the joy back to Henna's life.”
